JEWELLERY REDESIGN PROJECTS
CAN EVERY PIECE OF JEWELLERY BE REDESIGNED?
In many cases, stones can be reused, but existing settings are not always suitable for redesign. Some stones may also be too worn, damaged, or structurally compromised to safely reset.
During your consultation, each piece is carefully assessed to determine what can realistically be reused and what may need to be rebuilt.
Many clients bring several pieces of jewellery at once — inherited rings, outdated settings, or loose stones that have accumulated over time. Together we explore creative ways to reuse what you have, sometimes combining stones or reworking elements into an entirely new design.
The goal is to carry forward the meaning of the original jewellery while creating something that feels cohesive and wearable today.
West of Fourth is led by Melissa Mitchell, a Calgary-based custom jewellery designer with over a decade of experience in bespoke design and gemstone sourcing. Melissa holds Graduate Diamonds, Coloured Stones, and Applied Jewellery Professional (AJP) diplomas from the Gemological Institute of America.
Each project is guided personally from consultation through completion, ensuring a consistent, thoughtful experience from start to finish.
